Corey Burks, Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern
Corey Burks is a Clinical Mental Health Counselor-in-Training with over a decade of experience supporting diverse and underserved populations across wellness, behavioral health, and case management settings. He is currently completing his Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at The Chicago School, with an anticipated graduation in Summer 2027.
Corey brings an integrative, whole-person approach to care, with particular expertise in the intersection of mental health, physical wellness, behavior change, and lifestyle alignment. His professional background includes extensive work with older adults, individuals managing chronic medical conditions and disabilities, and clients seeking to improve resilience, meaning, and overall quality of life. He has provided private case management services for older adults, including healthcare navigation, care coordination, and person-centered advocacy.
Drawing from evidence-based modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and existential approaches, Corey emphasizes psychoeducation, collaborative goal setting, and strengths-based interventions.
